There are so many different tents out there it is hard to know which one best fits your needs. While there is a host of different products out there, if you want to get the most bang for your buck, then a 4 season wall tent would more than likely be the best option. Here at Elk Mountain Tents, we sell true 4 season wall tents and we believe them to be the most versatile and durable of any tents, 4 season or otherwise. But, what is a 4 season tent, and why do you need one?
Definition of a 4 season tent
A 4 four season tent is, in essence, a tent that you can use all year round. It is a tent that you can use in blistering deserts, freezing snow storms, and everything in between so you can use the tent in more than just a few specific situations.
You can usually find 4 season tents at specialty shops for hunting and camping. Sometimes, however, they aren’t always labeled as 4 season tents. Sometimes you can see them labeled as ‘winter tents’ since they can be used in the winter time. In some instances, there are people that will only use their 4 season tents as winter tents. However, Elk Mountain Tents are actually to be used in all 4 seasons. This means you can set it up in the snow, in the sand, and anywhere else you want to spend some time.
4 season tents vs. normal tents
So, let’s talk about normal tents for a minute. As you probably know a normal tent is one that is not designed to be used all year round. They may be designed for use in 1, 2, or 3 seasons, but not 4. When looking at multiple season tents, usually, you’ll find that they will only be made for the spring, summer, and fall, but not for winter. This is because of all the special material and time that goes into making a winter tent. So, if are looking for a tent you can use in the winter, you are either going to have to buy a 4 season tent or a tent that is specifically designated for winter camping.
Not to mention, normal tents tend to be, in a lot of cases, not as sturdy as 4 season tents. This means that they will not last as long. So, if you are looking to buy a more sturdy tent for your normal everyday camping use, then a 4 season tent may be the best way to go.
Features of 4 season tents
There are 4 main features that you want in any 4 season tent. These features include warmth, wind proofing, waterproofing, and ventilation.
Warmth
As you can probably figure, if you are going to use a tent in all 4 seasons, you are going to want a tent that is warm. Now, there are many ways that you can make your tent warm, you can have thick walls, you can bring in a stove, and so on. When it comes to Elk Mountain Tents, not only are the walls thick, but you can also bring a stove in. This means that, no matter how cold it gets, you can stay snug and warm inside your tent.
Windproof
The wind can make any camping or hunting trip just a terrible experience. It makes that cold colder, it makes it hard to rest at night, and it can just make everything more difficult than it needs to be. Normal tents will usually only be able to take a low amount of abuse from the wind, but a 4 season tent, especially a 4 season wall tent like the ones we sell, will be able to hold up much better against the wind. Not only is the tent material tougher but the number of extra long extra, extra durable stakes included make them secure in almost any windy situation when properly grounded.
Waterproof
If there is one universal enemy to every hunter or camper, it is precipitation. It seems like no matter where you go or what time of year it is, you have a 50% chance of getting dumped on by snow or rain. So, even if you only plan on using your tent once every year, you are more than likely going to need some sort of waterproofing. 4 season tents are designed for rain. That being said, most people prefer to add extra waterproofing to their tents as well as use a rainfly. Elk Mountain Tents are naturally waterproof and require no additional waterproofing or a rainfly (although both may help protect your tent from natural wear).
Ventilation
Ventilation is key if you want to have a comfortable and safe sleeping arrangement. The great thing about our 4 season tents is that they are made with windows and vents so that you can manipulate the air flow coming through your tent. No matter what kind of weather you are dealing with you can get your tent just right. This also prevents the condensation issues that many people report about the Alaknak. Benefits of buying a 4 season tent instead of single season tents
As you can probably guess, buying a single season tent means that you are limited to camping or hunting in one season. So, if you want to go camping all year round you need to buy multiple tents, which can get expensive. But, if you invest in a 4 season tent, while it may be a little more of an investment up front, you will save yourself time and money in the long run while also adding much needed storage space. It is an all-around superior option.
Elk Mountain Tents as 4 season tents
As we have mentioned before, Elk Mountain Wall Tents are true 4 season tents. They are built to last you through the spring, summer, fall, and winter. They are perfect for anyone who wants a little home away from home. If you invest in an Elk Mountain 4 season tent you will definitely be making the best decision for yourself and your wallet.
4 season tents are great products and one of the greatest investments you can make when it comes to camping or hunting gear. If you want to learn more about how an Elk Mountain Tent can make your outdoor adventure more enjoyable, check out our features page or shoot us an email today!
